Volunteers needed on Organic Farm in Wymah, NSW
I am a passionate farmer in my 70s who runs an organic farm in Wymah, NSW. I have an olive orchard and process olives here and run sheep as well. I am physically unable to lift, and as a result, I am looking for able-bodied volunteers to help me clean up part of my farm so I can sell it to downsize as I move towards my retirement.
The work involves control of woody weeds and potentially clearing away items for the tip, moving livestock to assist with pasture control patching existing fences, clearing prunings and garden work. So I am looking for someone who is fit enough to do the tasks. Ability to work with sheep would be a plus but not essential .
The farm is located in Wymah, NSW, I know you will enjoy this beautiful and peaceful part of the country.
Wymah is near Albury, Wodonga, Holbrook, Walwa and Jingellic There are plenty of attractions nearby, including scenic walks, fishing spots, and local farmers markets. You will also have the opportunity at my farm to see how organic farming is done. Moreover, the farm is located near Lake Hume, Mount Granya, Mount Lawson and the Woomargama National Park backs on to the farm . About one third of the farm is set aside as a protected open woodland with Box Tree regeneration and makes for a great on-farm trek.
Woomargama National Park, itself is an excellent spot for bushwalking and birdwatching. The national park has walking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding area and a chance to see some of Australia's unique wildlife.
The south West slopes region is also known for its cafes, and restaurants, where you can enjoy the local cuisine. A trip over the nearby free ferry puts you in Victoria and all the NE Foodie trails
If you have a motorhome, there is power and water during your stay. The House kitchen and shower can be shared as well
If you don't have accomodation, there is a room available in the house.
Due to health and respiratory issues, I regretfully cannot accept volunteers who are smokers.
