Flood recovery labourer

Volunteer
Farm Hands / Labourer

Location :
20km west of Coffs Harbour on mid north coast NSW.

Help wanted on small (60ha) beef breeding farm, flood affected

Flood recovery work involves repairing/replacing fencing (would be useful if applicant able to use tractor mounted post driver but not essential; chainsaw and c/saw drill ability also useful), removing drifted and fallen trees and logs and stacking into bonfire piles (chainsaw ability useful but not essential), restoring traffic areas by introducing with harder paving (stones, concrete blocks, sand, maybe spreading gypsum), spreading mulch over bare areas as a seedbed and then spreading seed, collecting flood borne litter, patching potholes in already paved areas (involves collecting and distributing stones/gravel), digging out undesirable species which have colonised paddocks due to floods and wet weather.
also some building repairs: inside = sanding and repainting water damage to ceiling/cornice and brick chimney breast (would incl any surface restoration before painting)
also pressure wash cattle crush/if suitably skilled or experienced repairs to rusty crush (would need mig) and want to "rust convert" and then paint crush to protect. also to fix rust in tractor and some machinery. pls let me know if u have any skills for this type of thing 🙂
not essential for applicant to be able to do all the above, just even assistance with one task would be useful!
and if desired, assistance with animal handling would help too eg weekly weighing remaining calves, barcoding and loading those still to be sold, drenching if suitable product becomes available (internal parasites after floods and supply problems due probably to covid and international affairs!!)
happy to pay if need be but volunteer ok too as i am quite broke after > 4 years continuous disasters. any payments would be on the books, applicant must have ABN or provide "statement by a supplier- reason for not quoting an ABN" as I don't have the software to do wages. no cash payments because i need to claim the expense
applicant should be fit, reliable, safety conscious, able to work in difficult and stressful conditions (incl wet weather if need be), and to absorb and carry out detailed instructions
front gate is locked so i need advance notice of any attendees, prefer phone interview to texting but email contact ok in first instance, do pls provide a phone number that I can call you on and availability details
self contained accomm not available here, anyone without their own van etc would need to live out or share the farmhouse (and therefore housework) with me, tho have own room.
as this is a disaster declared area any backpackers on 417 or 462 visa are able to use this work towards visa extension requirements
