We’re looking for an easy-going, reliable caretaker (or couple) – perfect for grey nomads – to help with a few light duties while enjoying a peaceful stay on our small farm.
Dates Needed
- 2–12 January
-16–24 January
You’re welcome to stay for the whole period (2–24 Jan) if you like. Just note we’ll be home during the break between the two dates. Otherwise, we’re happy to have two separate farmsitters.
About the Role
This is a relaxed volunteer position with simple day-to-day jobs. A bit of farm or livestock experience would be helpful but not essential.
Tasks include:
- Checking fences and making sure our small herd is where they should be (you’re welcome to use our drone for this)
-Keeping an eye on stock water
-Looking after two friendly dogs (a 3-year-old Maremma and 1-year-old Jack Russell)
-Being around in case something pops up - we’ll provide an emergency contact list
-References may be requested.

About the Area
Half an hour north of Ballarat, you’ll be close to plenty of great spots:
-Sovereign Hill
-Lake Wendouree - lovely for walks, birdwatching or a casual ride
-Ballarat Wildlife Park
-Local cafés, weekend markets and historic streets
-A pub just 5 minutes away
Creswick (15 mins): IGA, shops, French patisserie, swimming lakes
Easy day trips to Daylesford, Creswick State Forest and the Pyrenees wine region
It’s an ideal base if you enjoy exploring the region or simply want somewhere peaceful to park up and relax.
