We own one tractor which we rely on for all tasks in our small horse training enterprise. We currently can not use our main arena because we can not plough the surface. The hard surface is more likely to injure clients horses. We also can not manage big bales of hay without the tractor bucket. The rear main seal has failed on the tractor and is estimated to cost around $5000 by the time we ship it it to a repairer. We can’t afford to buy a new tractor and the repair job is more than the current tractor is worth. It is a big job – the homemade bucket has to be removed and the tractor has to be broken in half to be repaired. The infuriating thing is that the rest of the tractor is in good working order. We may consider selling the tractor for spare parts if we can get enough money towards a better second hand tractor. Needs new tyres, but that will have to wait. 10km from Manilla approx 40km from Tamworth. We can pay for parts but do not have any of the equipment/knowledge necessary for the repair.
